The San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers clash into Week 4 with the red hot 49ers coming into the game with a 3-0 record. The two teams played on the night of 02/17/01. Clear skies and perfect weather for a football game, so everyone expected a great match up.
We asked the head coach what the game plan was for their game. Coach Sananikone replied, "Well, our team has started out great and plan staying with the plan setout since Week 1. Our offense, which consists of R. Cunningham, R. Moss, K. Johnson, W. Chrebet, and J. Bettis, is doing its job. Although they may not rank highly in yards per catch, the touchdowns spread between the players is enough to confuse a defense. No defense has been able to contain them this season. There are no "go to" guys so the opposing defense keeps playing zones leaving man-to-man coverage for big pass plays or 20+ yard runs. We've also got young players on the defense stepping it up like J. Sharper who has 5 solo sacks. With L. Butler and M. Carrier patrolling the backfields, not many long bombs will be coming their way."
So it seems the 49ers may just be sticking to their original game plan that has lead them to a 3-0 record. With the evenly spread out running and passing game, it's going to be hard to figure out what they are going to do.
